Welcome and 93!

The Assembly of Sophia is a temple of the Ecclesia Gnostica Universalis. We are a body local to Birmingham and believe that every person contains Gnosis, or spiritual knowledge, within themselves. It is our duty to look within ourselves using meditation and other disciplines to discover this hidden knowledge. We exist as a body to help you help yourself. We provide fellowship and guidance to each other as we travel along our own personal routes to self-discovery.

Spiritual knowledge isn’t found in a book. It’s not found in religious dogma. Just as the quote implies for beauty: “You can search the world over for beauty, but unless you carry it within yourself, you will find it not”, the same goes for gnosis. If you recognize gnosis in an external source, it is because you recognize it within yourself. Because of this, the Assembly of Sophia does not try to burden you with dogma. We don’t try to burden you with rules and regulations. We simply exist as your companions along your road to self-discovery.
